DAY 1 – Queenstown – Te Anau – Glade House

Distance: 1.6km (1 mile)
Time: 20 mins.

Your adventurous guided walk tour will begin from our Queenstown office. From here, you will have to board your coach to Te Anau.  Do not miss to arrive in time for delicious lunch and entertaining group photo. From Te Anau Downs harbor you will be taken to the head of Lake Te Anau. A short yet fully adventurous walk to the popular historic Glade House will be ready for you. Enjoy a wonderful afternoon tea once being here. This is followed by a short nature walk and you will get proper assistance from guides. Take a relaxing hot shower and three-course relishing meal followed by relaxing at snug beds. You can always go for multi-share bunk rooms. But, there is option to settle with private ensuite rooms, too.

DAY 2 – Glade House – Pompolona Lodge

Distance: 16km (10 miles)
Time: 5-7 hours

Experience the adventure of walking up the valley to Hirere Falls lunch shelter after crossing the emerald and beautiful green Clinton River. You can move forward and a bit deeper in the forest for enjoying a more luxuriant experience and it will end at Prairie. Capture the mesmerizing beauty of true nature that is present at the ice-carved Clinton Canyon. Later on, have  a short climb to Pompolona Lodge.

DAY 3 – Pompolona Lodge – Quintin Lodge via Mackinnon Pass

Distance: 15km (9 miles)
Time: 6-8 hours
Included Meals: Breakfast, lunch, dinner

In inclement weather this day will be the most special one. Your walk will take you towards Lake Mintaro nestled at the Clinton Valley. You will also enjoy climbing the Mackinnon Pass through zig-zag paths. After reaching at the top you will get glances of the panorama and enjoy lunch in Pass Hut. This is followed by the stopover at Arthur Valley and has a welcome hot cup or tea at Quintin Lodge. Optional 90 minute round trip to the world’s fifth highest waterfall (Sutherland Falls) is there on store, too.  

DAY 4 – Quintin Lodge – Mitre Peak Lodge via Sandfly Point

Distance: 21km (13 miles)
Time: 6-8 hours
Included Meals: Breakfast, lunch, dinner

Today, you will walk from Arthur Valley to Boatshed. Later on, have a short break for continuing to Mackay Falls and hence Bell Rock. It is known to be carved out of the river at certain violent flood. Enjoy lunch at Giant’s Gate waterfall followed by an adventurous journey to Lake Ada to Sandfly Point.

From here your short lunch trip to Mitre Peak Lodge will take place. Take a superb view of Mitre Peak – the eighth wonder of the world. Later on, enjoy a celebratory dinner while experiencing the magnificence of Milford Sound.

DAY 5 – Mitre Peak Lodge – Milford Sound – Te Anau – Queenstown

Meals Included: Breakfast, lunch

Explore the tranquility of Fiordland while walking. After completing breakfast go for experiencing spectacular cruise on Milford Sound. Dolphins and fur seals will be there to entertain you. If it rains, Fiordland will be an incredible experience as the waterfalls will be in full flow.

Now, it’s time to move back to Queenstown.


  1. Travel by coach through Fiordland National Park, Homer Tunnel and beyond
  2. A spectacular helicopter flight that will pass through Mt Aspiring National Park. Have glimpses of the World Heritage Area. Get mesmerized with rugged peaks, alpine lakes and sheer canyons. (The flight option is available with an additional cost and weather dependable.)

Pre-Track Briefing For all our multi day walks it is essential you attend your pre-track briefing the evening prior to departure. This is held in the Ultimate Hikes office, Top Floor, “The Station”, Corner of Camp & Shotover Streets, Queenstown. Milford Track/Ultimate Hike: 4.00pm Check-in: 3.45pm Routeburn Track: 2.00pm Check-in 1.45pm Grand Traverse: 3.00pm Check-in: 2.45pm Clothing requirements Please remember the above tracks are in remote wilderness areas and the unpredictable nature of the weather in this region means that snow, winds and rain can occur at any time of the year. It is therefore very important to be prepared for the worst weather conditions and carry the appropriate clothing. Details of the required clothing can be found in the “What to Bring” page of the Important Information section. Pre-Track Accommodation Pre-Track accommodation is required. It is essential that we know where you are staying please advise our office when you have finalised your bookings.

To secure a reservation with full payment at time of booking

Children’s prices (10-15 years) inclusive. Children under 10 years of age are not allowed on our guided walks. Please consult your doctor if you are 70 and above. Settle with comprehensive travel insurance. This is a normal precaution and does not reflect any likelihood of accident, injury or loss.

Please note flights are weather dependant for MIlford Track Guided Walk. We will be unable to confirm your flight. Payment by credit card or cash at Mitre Peak Lodge is required once your flight departure gets confirmed.

For booking our multidays guided walks, please inform us of your stay, whether in Queenstown or Te Anau before the night of your departure. Also, inform about your dietary requirements.

The operators reserve the right to alter. Once the walk has departed from Queenstown (or Mt Cook/Te Anau), no portion of the package payment is refundable in the event of an individual or group being unable to proceed further on the track, for whatever reason.

Milford Track Guided Walk, Routeburn Guided Walk and Alpine Guides Mt Cook make all arrangements for these tours on the condition that it shall not be liable for any sickness, injury, damage, loss, accident, delay or irregularity which may be occasioned, either directly or indirectly, by reason of any defect in any vehicle, vessel or aircraft, by weather, by any other cause, or through acts of default of a company or person engaged in conveying the passengers, or in carrying out arrangements for these tours.

Cancellations – Multi Day Walks

All cancellations must be made in writing. Cancellation fees are charged on the following basis per person:

Outside 90 days from date of walk departure: NZ$100 per person
Between 89-60 days from date of walk departure: NZ$200 per person
Between 59-21 days from date of walk departure: 50% of full fare
Within 21 days of date of walk departure: 100% of full fare
Fees are non negotiable. We strongly recommend that you take out travel insurance.
